ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 1, 2018 -- The summer is on its way, and school is out. Your children are home, and this calls for some relaxation and enjoying various activities of the sunny season! That being said, have you thought about signing up your kids for a summer camp? Now, camps are not just a way to get your kids out of the house. Summer Camps have many benefits that your child can gain from. At summer camps, such as Code Changers, your kids will be able to attain life-long skills, friends and maybe even lead to a new career. At our camps, that is our goal.

1. Kids at Summer Camps Gain New Skills

Summer camps are unique in that they often specialize in an area that you wouldn’t find elsewhere (Ryan, 2018). When Code Changers was originally created, it was hoped that kids would gain new skills with and be exposed to the technological world early. Subjects such as design, web development and programming, placed in a technological immersive environment can be difficult to come by outside of a university setting. Even in higher education, individual attention can be difficult to receive (especially in beginning courses). In contrast, summer camps provide an opportunity for kids to be introduced to new subjects at an early age, participate in a smaller class size (Thus more attention from an instructor!), and thrive in an environment that is more dedicated to a specific subject. At Code Changers, we strive to make the best environment to make sure our campers have the best experience.

2. Kids at Summer Camps are Exposed to Potential Careers

When you go to an ice cream shop, you have a variety of flavors to choose from. These choices can often be overwhelming and intimidating--especially if your are debating between the Rocky Road and the Chocolate Fudge Supreme. You don’t want to spend your hard earned cash on something you would “sort-of like” or dislike altogether! That is where the magic of samples comes in. In many ways, summer camps are like the little sample spoons. For example, at Code Changers, we provide a variety of topics that kids can choose from which allows them to see if that given field would be something they would like to pursue further. We provide a taste of each subject, which may help your child down the road when they are choosing schools, majors and careers. That way your kid knows exactly what they want when they meet the ice cream cashier of life (Wow--that got cheesy real quick, huh? Maybe it’s because ice cream is a dairy product... ).

3. Kids at Summer Camps get to Meet New Friends

When you go to a camp, it is impossible to not gain or strengthen friendships. In summer camps, the subjects your child will be learning are often closely related together. With a centralized environment, then comes like-minded people . Here your child is likely to meet fellow campers that will have similar tastes and goals (Ryan, 2018). These similarities can pave the way for your child to build a new and lasting friendship. Who knows--these kids could team up and create the next Facebook or Nintendo business (Ryan, 2018).

Summer Camps are more than just getting your kids out of the house. They provide the chance for your kids to gain skills, look at potential careers and meet new friends. These camps can provide life-lasting experiences that can make a difference in your child’s life. With summer on the way, you can count on a summer camp to be an amazing experience that your kids will be glad they did.
